The Lesbian Strength March and Rally in Leeds, UK on Saturday 14th September 2024 was a fantastic success. Samba drums, speeches and socialising with other lesbians, both at the rally and in the beer garden later.

This years march and rally had new elements within it, some of which will carry on in to 2025, some of which will not. One of the greatest successes was the formation of the Lesbian Strength Samba band. It gave the march a whole different vibe, and as a result, not one person within the vicinity of the march route could ignore the visibility of our wonderful lesbian sisters marching throught the city centre.

It was also the year that Lesbian Strength became an open mic event. At the time that the Lesbian Strength marches were revived in 2019, it was the intention that the speakers at the rally were lesbians who did not get a platform elsewhere. This year, any lesbian that wanted to speak could take to the mic and speak her truth. It was a beautiful thing, and we heard from lesbians from all walks of life about their real life experiences of living as a lesbian.
